TL;DR FarCon is an experiential public good that facilitates a special kind of physical connection; to support and proliferate the digital ecosystem known as Farcaster.
Overview
As a thriving and forward-looking DAO, Purple has demonstrated the potential of Nouns Builder and significantly contributed to the growth of the Nounish ecosystem. Collaborating with the Farcaster community, Purple has been working with developers and builders in the ecosystem. Purple has also proven its ability to generate attention and capital for its goals, thanks to the quality of its members.
To further strengthen the Farcaster ecosystem on which Purple is built, we propose a grant to partially fund a first of its kind Farcaster Conference (FarCon), which will bring Farcaster users together for a weekend of conversation, hacking, and interpersonal connection focused problem-solving of network level problems within the Farcaster Community. This event will strengthen the bonds between Casters, reinforce Purple's influence and legitimacy, and showcase Farcaster as a vibrant and friendly community that extends well beyond a digital interface. The Farcaster meetup organized during EthDenver has been instrumental in strengthening the community. The upcoming FarCon event will further establish it as a regular happening.
The Warpcast team has decided to match Purple's contribution to the first FarCon event. Therefore, the proposed transaction for this proposal is requesting 1 ETH from the treasury of Purple.
Objectives
Facilitate networking, collaboration, and learning among Farcaster community members. Encourage innovation and problem-solving from within the Farcaster ecosystem. Attract talented individuals to Farcaster and Purple DAO, expanding our network of contributors and enthusiasts. Showcase the potential of Nouns Builder and Purple DAO's commitment to the growth of the Nounish ecosystem. Demonstrate of Proof of Concept Digital + Physical event anchored in the Farcaster community
Plan of Action Develop conference agenda, including workshops, talks, and hackathon challenges related to the crypto, Web3, and Nounish ecosystems to include the physical conference dates, as well as in the week leading up to FarCon Organize and coordinate logistics for the conference, including venue, registration, and marketing efforts. Launch a promotional campaign for the conference, leveraging Purple DAO's network and media connections, including podcast appearances, newsletters, and blog posts. Engage the Purple DAO community in attending, volunteering, and participating in conference activities. Document and share conference outcomes and successes on Farcaster, Purple DAO, and other relevant platforms to promote further offline meetups and contributions to the Web3 ecosystem.
Note: Substantial progress is already underway in all of these efforts and over 60 Farcasters have minted their tickets already.
Budget
The 1 ETH funding will be allocated towards conference venue, logistics, and support costs.
Expected Outcomes
Strengthened connections among Farcaster community members, fostering collaboration and innovation. Increased engagement within Farcaster and Purple by attracting intellectuals and talented individuals. Enhanced Farcaster and Purple’s influence on network stewardship and decentralized organization of people. Established Purple DAO as a leader in decentralized, permissionless, and censorship-resistant economies, software development, and community design.
