This proposal funds the sponsorship of an ETHDenver Farcaster meetup. The meetup will be hosted in partnership with OrangeDAO, who has agreed to split costs 50/50. The requested budget for this event is 3.6 ETH.
ETHDenver is the largest and longest running Ethereum conference. It commands an extraordinary amount of attention within the Ethereum community, as well as drawing builders from around the globe to participate in the annual buildathon.
In order to proliferate awareness of the Farcaster protocol, we propose to hold a Farcaster meetup during the core event (Mar 2-5) of ETHDenver 2023.
Due to inflated costs, and a preference to not "split" the Farcaster audience, we propose holding the event in partnership with OrangeDAO. Orange is a 1300+ member DAO, that primarily focuses on funding and supporting early-stage web3 startups. They are one of the most active DAOs on Farcaster (outside of Purple), showing an interest in the protocol and it's ecosystem.
Orange has already begun marketing for a Farcaster meetup, primarily on Twitter and in the ETHDenver Telegram group. With over 80 RSVPs and growing fast, this may be the largest FC meetup to date!
Purple and Orange will both be cosponsors of the event, and will be splitting costs 50/50 for the event venue, food & beverage, and entertainment.
The following is an estimated budget breakdown, based on a number of venue quotes.
These prices are variable depending on the number of attendees. In order not to restrict the natural growth of the event, we are targeting a maximum event cost of $10,000 USD. Purple's obligation, in the worst case, would be $5,000 or ~3.3 ETH at proposal time. 0.3 additional ETH is requested to hedge against current market volatility.
The funds will be allocated to a new Events multisig, which will reimburse event organizers upon proof-of-receipt. Reimbursements must take place within 90 days of the conclusion of ETHDenver.
All remaining funds (if any), will be sent back to the Purple treasury by the multisig.
A new 3 of 5 multisig has been created in anticipation of this proposal. All members have agreed to review and approve/deny reimbursement requests on behalf of the DAO. Approvals should take place in a timely manner.
If, for some unforeseen reason, a signer can not complete the duties outlined above, a replacement may be chosen by the remaining multisig signers. It's details are as follows:
