I love Tom and his content, love to mint tom or to upvote his content on skatehive, and I try to support him in every way possible. I even delegated my votes to help him beat Nouns.build UI and get his proposal on-chain. I firmly believe that if Gnars doesn't support creative skaters like Tom, then what are we doing here anyway? As an early shredder of Gnars, I have seen and participated in many discussions about the ambassadors' topic.
One of the interesting aspects of being involved with Gnars as a skater is that sometimes you wear your skateboarder hat and other times your entrepreneur hat. It's a crazy but rewarding experience. There have been valuable topics raised by the community during various sponsor proposals, as seen here:https://discord.com/channels/928811922244137020/1267597686362738741/1267836407041359925
Given the challenges in converting the relationship between our target audience and the DAO’s revenue stream, I haven't renewed my role as a skater or encouraged anyone to do so, for now. Although I know that I, and others, have what it takes for it and a pretty good history of convertions. Instead, I am encouraging and provoking discussions about the structure needed to maximize the value we can achieve with web3 tools. Our culture's content is incredibly valuable. We're witnessing the Olympics monetize athletes' content on a massive scale through traditional media channels like TV and web2, just by formating it for it. Creating and distributing content and revenue in web3 is the gnarly version of traditional media.
As a skater, I wholeheartedly support Tom. As an entrepreneur, I also see the value in his unique content and the validation it brings to us. I believe in this proposal because it aligns with our goals and has immense potential. If , first, we have the structure to receive Toms Target audience into Gnars (currently user journey of gnars for the normie is tough, we lack tutorials or intuite tools), second we need to have good mechanisms in place to convert value, thankfully thatsgnarly is coming back and integrating it with warpcast and hive (for some) will enable inputing content into revenue distribution mechanisms and increase the outreach of what we are doing in web2 <-> web3 that helps the skaters to support each other.
Ultimally, its still early to expect that the skater or the surfer will convert NFT sales on the auction or opensea. Lets NOT expect that the skater convert NFT sales, lets encourage each other to impact the most people we can outside web3, by bringing then over. Not by selling nfts, but inviting then to use or apps and generate value for all sides: The dao, the creator, the onboarder and the curators.
As a last example, a reduction analogy would be: imagine Tom in a skatepark saying, yo bro.. you should buy this nft to be cool... now imagine Tom saying... " Yes I have an youtube channel but I really like to post on this dope app" its way more appealing.
So yes, I believe in Tom, I want to have him around for one more year, and forever, but I cannot just blindly vote cause I like him, I need to say all this, we cant skip the building part, and we are in building phase. Otherwise we are going to keep approving proposals cause we like people without paying attention on our inflow, outflows, and impact. then what? another nouns proposal? We can be selfsustainable too while counting with nouns support. Lets make a good investment out of this, by applying its potencial in the community and brand pains, otherwise we will have budget for 5 more gnarthletes, and I think we are all here for the long run, so we need the structure and the culture so we can sponsor and support infinity skaters and Tom can be one of the voices representing this revolution among thousands. Tom, I count on you on taking care of the next skater proposer.
Love you gnars, love you tom. I can be all wrong, may be we should accelerate, I am just a voice. Sorry everyone for being a brainer XD
