TLDR This proposal is the same proposal that was passed for last year’s FarCon in LA. We are requesting the same 10 ETH to help fund FarCon efforts. This year, FarCon will take place in New York City and will have two official events. The first will be Builders Day, a mini dev day with the Merkle team and 24 hour FarHack, which will end at the beginning of the Summit on the following day. Both events are focused on celebrating, strengthening, and growing the Farcaster community, and we’re requesting funds to ensure it is as successful as possible.
Why is this a good fit for Purple?
Purple aims to grow and strengthen the Farcaster ecosystem. A large component of this is enriching our predominantly online interactions into valuable IRL experiences. Since the Farcaster user base is global, having one weekend a year where hundreds of qDAUs meet up IRL is not only a testament to the strength and vitality of the network, but an important and unique public good to continue the flywheel of Farcaster’s growth. One central theme that has emerged out of our hundreds of applications is the concept of FarCon being one of the best “launchpads” in crypto - whether it be for new companies, projects, investments, friendships, or ideas. We have invested hundreds of hours and lots of personal capital to make FarCon a reality because we deeply believe that it is a required public good to make Farcaster successful, and we hope you vote in favor of this proposal!
Budget We are requesting 10 ETH for FarCon NYC which we are going to be splitting between Builders Day and the Summit. These funds are going to go directly towards operating costs such as venues, vendors, catering, sponsorships, and other production costs.
