Just Frame It - Build sprint to reframe the future of social feeds

TL;DR

Builders Garden and urbe.eth are launching Just Frame It, a two-month builder program designed to accelerate the development of Frames on Farcaster. This initiative will support six teams in building impactful Frames, leveraging Warpcast’s (and soon Coinbase Wallet’s) engaged user base and the simplified distribution model that Frames offer. We are requesting 6 ETH to fund the program, providing mentorship, demo days, a mid-program meetup in NYC, and a final in-person build residency in Rome at Urbe Hub, Italy’s first Web3 hub.

Overview

Frames are a powerful new way to build interactive applications that live directly in Farcaster’s social feed. Inspired by the example of Farville, where we saw real engagement and new user onboarding, we believe Frames can play a crucial role in growing the Farcaster ecosystem.

Just Frame It will support 6 teams (up to 3 builders per team) in launching high-quality Frames on Base with a clear focus on user distribution. The program includes mentorship, regular demo days, and in-person networking opportunities to help builders refine and launch their projects. Teams will receive guidance from experienced builders and founders of relevant projects in the Farcaster and Base ecosystem, who will act as mentors and judges throughout the program.

Why is this a good fit for PurpleDAO?

PurpleDAO’s mission is to grow and strengthen the Farcaster ecosystem. The program aligns with PurpleDAO’s goal of proliferating Farcaster through consumer applications and engaged developers. By funding Just Frame It, PurpleDAO will:

• Support talented builders in shipping fully functional Frames on Farcaster.
• Onboard new users by pushing the development of engaging Frames that can introduce people to the network.
• Expand the Farcaster developer ecosystem, positioning it as a go-to platform for interactive mini-apps.
• Increase network activity (qDAUs) and innovation by facilitating high-quality, production-ready Frames.

Program Structure

1. Online Collaboration & Mentorship: Teams will receive ongoing mentorship from experienced builders in the Farcaster ecosystem. Weekly check-ins and office hours for guidance.
2. Biweekly Demo Days: Every two weeks, teams will present their progress in live-streamed demo sessions. Judges will provide feedback and assign votes, at the end selecting 3 teams for the in-person residency in Rome.
3. Mid-Program Meetup in NYC (during Farcon NYC): An optional meetup for builders attending Farcon NYC. A chance to connect with other Frame developers and the broader Farcaster community. Details still TBD.
4. Build Residency in Rome: A week-long residency at Urbe Hub for the top 3 teams (expenses covered). Builders will refine their Frames and prepare for the Final Demo Day in June. Hosted at Urbe Hub, Italy’s first Web3 hub dedicated to builders and innovation.

Budget Request

We are requesting 6 ETH to fund the program, covering:

• Program Management Coordination: Compensation for our team—including limone.eth, frankk—responsible for setting up, coordinating, and providing mentorship throughout the program.
• Demo Days & Infrastructure: Support for online collaboration tools, demo streaming, and judging.
• NYC Meetup: Expenses for the mid-program in-person networking event in New York City. Final details still to be defined.
• Rome Build Residency: Travel stipends (flight and stay) and residency expenses for top 3 teams.
• Final Demo Day Event: Logistics and event execution at Urbe Hub.
