Mission Alignment: This proposal directly supports Purple’s goal to proliferate and expand the Farcaster protocol and ecosystem by rewarding past contributions to public goods which benefit everyone on the network.
Description:
This proposal seeks 3 ETH from the Purple treasury to contribute to a collaborative Retrofunding Round. This round marks a return to Purple's core activity of retroactive funding but adopts a new, collaborative model to increase the funding pool and community involvement while lowering the direct cost to the Purple treasury compared to previous 5 ETH rounds.
Collaboration & Funding: This round is being organized in partnership with Octant and other contributors. The currently anticipated funding pool includes:
- Octant: 5 ETH
- Purple: 3 ETH (Subject to this proposal's approval)
- @dwr: 1 ETH
- Other Organizations: Discussions ongoing
- Farcaster Community: A donation frame will be launched, allowing any caster to contribute. The goal is for community donations to become a significant funding source (ideally >5 ETH).
Mechanism & Voting:
- The round will be run via Prop House, similar to previous rounds.
- Stricter criteria will be applied to qualifying projects (details below and to be finalized before the round starts).
- Voting Power: Voting rights will be extended to:
- Purple token holders.
- Farcaster users who donate above a minimum threshold (e.g., $10, exact amount TBD) via the community donation frame.
Project Multisig: A new 3/5 multisig will be created with members from Purple, Octant and the Farcaster community. The Multisig is responsible to receive the funds and distribute them to winners according to the voting outcome. The multisig remains responsible for respecting the vote and ensuring timely distribution.

History: Purple has a history of successful retroactive funding rounds (Mainnet Props 4, 17, 31, 39, 52). This proposal continues that tradition but evolves the model towards broader collaboration and community participation.
Details & Eligibility:
- Purpose: To reward developers and community members for work already completed that benefits the Farcaster ecosystem.
- General Eligibility: Proposals must be for past work, submitted via an address connected to a Farcaster account. Future work or proposals from addresses not linked to Farcaster are ineligible. Prior winners must disclose previous Purple funding.
- Funding Eligibility Criteria: Nominations should fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Infra: Core services and foundational tools that support Farcaster's ecosystem development.
- Utility: Practical tools or applications that deliver direct value or usability to Farcaster users.
- Education: Content, resources, or initiatives designed to teach, onboard, or inform the Farcaster community.
- Mini-apps: Support the mini app builders that enhance user engagement, enable on-chain actions, and create innovative experiences within the ecosystem.
- Note on Channels: We are at this time not focused on funding for channels unless you can show an extraordinary level of benefit to the FC community through it.
- Moderation: A moderation team will review nominations to ensure they meet these qualifications. The intention is not to be overly strict but to focus nominations on work clearly within these boundaries.
- Process: After the submission period, a voting period will commence. Winners are determined by the highest vote counts according to the voting power rules outlined above.
Action Requested:
