Description

Summary

This proposal requests Builder DAO to contribute 1 ETH for co-hosting a hacker house with bounties, i.e. a small hackathon stream, during Devconnect in Buenos Aires (17–22 November 2025), in partnership with Gnars DAO. The event will feature Builder’s brand together with one of the most active DAOs on the platform, and Zora as potential co-sponsor. We intend to use nouns.build for bounty distribution, demonstrating Builder’s utility beyond DAO use cases, and aiming to secure sponsors for raising 5–10k USD overall.

This initiative aims to foster long-term partnerships, such as L2/L3 support or app chain development, while testing collaborative models for our strategic goal of revenue funding. Compensation is limited to the DAO’s initial contribution, as we anticipate being able to cover all additional funding requirements through sponsorships. We will deliver usage of Builder, coverage of Builder during the event, 2-3 usable hackathon contributions for the advancement of Builder’s tech stack.

Context

Following a response from Gnars DAO to my thread regarding a community event for Devconnect, Gnars and I held discussions to explore a collaboration for an event in Buenos Aires. Gnars is planning a hacker house to skate and work on Zora SDK integration, which aligns with Builder’s goals to learn about the practical implementation of the Zora SDK and expand platform utility. Their plan includes proposing to request 1 ETH from Gnars DAO for planning and the venue. They already are speaking with Zora to provide additional funding. We would be associating Builder with that hacker house and have 1-3 focused sessions during Devconnect with Builder Protocol in the spotlight.

Discussions with Builder members have surfaced extending L2/L3 support as a potential revenue avenue alongside an integration with Zora’s new SDK. This event gets us in the position to start the necessary conversations about how funding these larger initiatives could look like and who to talk with.

Consultations with an event planner suggested a 5–10k USD budget from sponsors for a hackathon-style event feasible, which should be our door opener to lock in long-term partnerships. Our contributions so far include aligning with Gnars and Zora, identifying sponsors like Syndicate (for app chain funding) and possibly Base, and outlining how nouns.build can handle payouts for real-world Builder-focused submissions.

A comprehensive overview of the event scope is drafted in parallel in a detailed planning document, which will be shared with stakeholders and sponsors.

Proposal

This proposal consists of three main parts: event organisation and partnerships, fund distribution and bounties, and reporting and outcomes.

Event Organisation and Partnerships

  • Partner with Gnars DAO for core organisation and Zora for SDK integration and funding.
  • Onboard sponsors to raise 5–10k USD on top of the Builder DAO’s contribution
  • Host a 3–5 day hybrid hacker house/hackathon with a few Builder-focused breakouts or highlights, such as workshops, bounties, and demos focused on blockchain infrastructure, DAOs, and Builder integrations.

Fund Distribution and Bounties

  • Utilise nouns.build to transparently distribute bounties and prizes
  • Allocate DAO’s 1 ETH for startup costs like planning, venue contributions, and marketing
  • Cover the remainder of the expenses through sponsorships
  • Kickback remaining funds to the Builder DAO treasury

Reporting and Outcomes

  • Provide regular updates via Ops Group, Discord, and submit a post-event report/ blog post.
  • Measure success through KPIs:
    • 5–10k USD funding secured
    • 20–50 attendees throughout the week
    • 3+ partnership leads
    • Social media visibility
  • Share learnings to inform future events and the Builder roadmap

North Star Alignment

This proposal advances Builder DAO’s mission to develop accessible DAO infrastructure as a public good, by showcasing nouns.build and its utility beyond DAO use cases during Devconnect week in Buenos Aires.
