This proposal seeks authorisation for Builder DAO to integrate streams provided by Sablier Labs LTD as a custom proposal type for streaming payments, focusing on vesting and airdrops, whilst entering into a mutual referral agreement that provides 10% referral fees on qualifying revenues. This fulfils a long-standing community desire for advanced payment streaming capabilities and generates ongoing revenue for the DAO treasury with no upfront cost.
For a long time, the Builder DAO community has expressed interest in enhancing our proposal system with streaming payment functionalities, particularly for vesting schedules and airdrops, to improve flexibility and efficiency in fund distribution (GitHub Issue #463).
As discussed in OPs and community calls, initial outreach to Sablier has shared sustained interest in this integration. Therefore, this proposal deliberates exclusively undertaking an integration and entering a mutual referral agreement with Sablier.
Sablier provided usage estimates across their vesting and streaming products, where approximately 60% is vesting, 30% airdrops, and 10% payroll. Thus, the Nouns Builder proposal type will focus on vesting and MAY include airdrops.
Payments under the referral agreement would be made in USDC on EVM, aligning with our operational preferences. Whilst Superfluid was also considered for comparison, our outreach there unfortunately did not progress further, allowing Sablier's offering, including a 10% referral bonus, to emerge as a strong partner pending this DAO vote.
This proposal requests the DAO's approval to:
The integration will involve technical development to embed Sablier's protocol into our proposal creation interface, allowing DAO proposers to select streaming options directly. Execution will be led by the Builder Tech Residents, in collaboration with Sablier's team, ensuring seamless compatibility with EVM chains. No additional funding is required; all work will utilise existing resources.
Key elements of the mutual referral agreement are summarised below, with a full draft available upon request:
Integration and agreement execution to commence immediately upon approval, with completion targeted within the upcoming Tech Pod Residency.
This solves the problem of rigid, one-off proposal payouts by introducing streaming, which innovates on DAO governance tools and enhances user experience, while also contributing to the ongoing revenue generation efforts for Builder DAO.
A symbolic 0.0001 ETH is requested to be sent to the Operations Working Group’s Safe (Treasury Impact 0%) for putting this proposal to a vote. After completion of the integration this proposal’s treasury impact should be revenue-positive, with potential inflows from 10% referral fees on referred client revenues, paid quarterly in USDC to the treasury.
Builder DAO is dedicated to the creation and development of free and accessible DAO infrastructure as a public good. This proposal furthers that mission by expanding our toolkit with streaming payment integrations, making features like vesting and airdrops readily available to all users, whilst generating revenue to sustain further public goods development.
