after q&a w/ Ted, i feel comfortable supporting this prop. let's make sure purple follows up as an active and engaged partner so we get the most proliferation value out of this funding stream

I’m voting no, as the funding recipient is an EOA and not a 2/3 multisig. That’s a dealbreaker for me given the % of the treasury at stake here. My original plan was to abstain, with reasoning given below: I'm excited to fund FarCon! Hackathon prizes sounds like a great use of the treasury. I don’t feel that this prop contains sufficient detail (even with the budget shared offchain) for me to vote yes. Funding swag when there’s already a large budget from ticket sales doesn’t seem like a high leverage use of funds, and there’s very little detail about how the travel subsidies will work. With that said, I think FarCon as a whole is high ROI and I understand how much work and how many moving parts go into planning an event like this, so rather than a no vote I’m goin to abstain. I’d ask the organizers to use the funds in a way that better aligns with Purple’s mission than what’s outlined in the prop.

I'm not against funding farcon and the hackathon. But this prop is not well written. :( They ask for 10 ETH, but don't clearly outline the costs and why they need so much. 5 ETH for the hackathon makes sense. But I want to see a breakdown of the 5 ETH for Farcon. -- In general, I wish people would put more effort in writing proposals. Especially when asking for so much ETH. It's not the first time this is happening.

Been following the discussion and, pragmatically-speaking, I'm comfortable with the risk parameters and the extent to which criticisms have been addressed! 🟪

Would love to vote For, but this proposal in its current form lacks sufficient budget detail.

I don’t love the proposal as it’s written, but voting for it as I definitely support the mission and think it’s a valuable cause and ROI. I don’t think 10E is much to ask at all to help fund a conference. I also think the timing of this prop is a little late. Would have loved to review this a couple of months ago.

Bridging URL and IRL experiences is key to Farcaster's success. IRL events and physical swag that will be worn after the event further spread Farcaster into popular culture and allow us to showcase our multi-faceted community, attracting more users to the protocol. Moreover, users who apply and are selected to attend are likely to continue to be emphatic evangelists for the protocol and ecosystem at large.

I'm for supporting the Farcon and would vote yes if the amount were smaller. But since we're talking of 1/3 of our treasury, it feels too much. It's a pitty that we can't have more granularity for this, my vote would be a total 'Yes' if the donation would be around 5 ETH. With this in mind, and since 'Yes' is ahead, I'll abstain.

This will be the single most momentum-driving event of 2024 for Farcaster, and takes a monumental amount of effort. Let's not make the Farcon team worry about having to play politics here.
