The Builder, Nouns, BLVKHVND, Purple, and a number of other Nounish DAOs utilize BotFrens to share on-chain activity on Twitter, Discord, and Farcaster. These bots are crucial for keeping the DAO communities informed and engaged. With this proposal, we aim to cover the operational costs to make BotFrens free for all Nounish DAOs for one year.

The BotFrens team, funded by the Nouns, Builder, and Purple DAOs, has consistently delivered high-quality work. As of today, over 40 Nounish Bots that have collectively shared ~200K posts in the last six months. Here’s what the customers are saying:

Benefit to the BuilderDAO + Ecosystem (North Star Check)

For a thriving ecosystem, we need developers, creators, and active communities. By paying for this service, we support developers and give Nounish DAOs a powerful tool. Plus, every sponsored DAO bot will share promotional messages (tbd) driving additional traffic to the Builder:

The BotFrens team will collaborate with the Nouns Builder community to compile a collection of posts, ensuring they are fun, varied, and not spammy. These posts will be added to the DAO bots during the upgrade.

Benefit for individual DAOs

In this proposal, individual DAOs receive Premium BotFrens accounts. With these, they can share unlimited posts across multiple social platforms and gain access to premium behaviors. Any active Builder/Nouns DAO would be eligible to receive an account upgrade by filing a support request on the BotFrens Discord.

Cost Breakdown

The BotFrens premium plan costs $29/month, which amounts to approximately 0.16E per year. As of today, there are 41 Nounish bots live on BotFrens. We anticipate that the number of live bots will at least double within the next six to eight months. To reach the 8.6E price tag, we doubled the current number of bots and applied a discount of roughly 46%.

The Builder DAO plan will be capped at 200 DAOs. If fully utilized, this will represent a discount of approximately 80% compared to the standard BotFrens rate.

Success Metrics

The key performance indicator (KPI) is the number of DAOs using the service. We anticipate onboarding between 150 and 200 DAOs to BotFrens over the next year.

Reporting and Support

BotFrens agrees to provide BuilderDAO with the following data on a monthly basis:

Number of individual DAOs utilizing the BuilderDAO plan.
Total number of bots (one DAO can have a Discord bot, a Farcaster bot, etc.)
Breakdown of bots by social channel
Number of posts shared

BotFrens is committed to continue supporting existing functionality and to add support for L2s. Over the past several weeks, we added support for BASE and Optimism, and plan to introduce ZORA support in the future.

What Happens After One Year

Our goal is to build a sustainable business and grow alongside the BuilderDAO ecosystem. We aim to be paid directly by DAOs, and we hope that, over the next year, the ecosystem will mature—with both enhanced tools and successful DAOs—enabling them to directly pay for services like BotFrens.
